I’m Still Here…

G’day stitching friends!

I’ve missed you all so very much and there’s lots of news to catch up on. Sorry I haven’t been a very active blogger this past month, but life, work and health issues needed attention, and there’s not enough hours in the day 😦

In the last six months or so, my eyesight has been playing up. Two years ago I developed cataracts as a result of contracting cerebral malaria. Unfortunately, they’ve developed very fast, and slowed my stitching down a whole lot.  So, I paid my opthalmologist a visit and guess what? I’ve been booked in for surgery on my left eye in January. I came away a little shocked with the news, but now it’s all sunk in I’m looking forward to getting it over and done with so I can stitch good again. We’ll worry about the right eye later 😉 (says my doctor)

In the meantime, there’s been a little stitching. Here are a few bits and pieces.

  1. I’m so glad you are getting the eyes worked on, you do such lovely work, I’m sure it will make stitching much easier. I love the pinecones and the peacock, can you tell which patterns they are?

  2. Barbara says:

Oh my goodness, Pokua, what lovely squares!

I didn’t realize you were experiencing such problems with your eyes. I hope the cataract surgery will bring you a lot of relief!!

  3. Wendy says:

Pokua, your work is beautiful! Before I stumbled into quilting … okay, honestly, before I became a mother of two DDs now 6 and 4, I ate, slept and breathed cross stitching. I do quilting now as it’s easier for me to pick up and set down at a moment’s notice. I have so many cross stitch projects I hope to someday get back to … maybe travel time during vacations 🙂 If you don’t mind, I’ll check back every now and then for inspiration 🙂 Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful work! Best of luck with your eyes … hugs, Wendy

  4. Shelley says:

Pokua, your stitching is beautiful! You would never know that you were having any problems. I hope your surgery goes well, so that you can stitch with pleasure and continue to produce lovely work.

Thank you again for the squares – I have decided to finish them as a hand-finished pillow with beaded edging. It will probably have to wait until January, when I will have lots of time avoiding the cold weather. 🙂 I’ll send you a picture when it’s done.

  5. Shelley says:

Oh, and I wanted to say what the pattern was that I used. It is from “Animal Samplings” by Hillside Samplings. It is carried by Hoffman, so your local or online shop can order it. 🙂 It was a fun stitch!

  6. Vinniey says:

{{{Hugs}}} I’m so sorry to hear about your left eye. I hope your eyes will be recover after the surgery next year. Take care, Pokua. Your eyes will be alright and you can stitch more beautiful works. 🙂 You always have beautiful stitching works to show, Pokua. I love all your exchange.
