Storms in Perth

Some of you may have heard on the wire about the major wind, rain and hailstorm that lashed the city of Perth on Monday 22 March in the afternoon. We’re all still reeling from the effects. Here are a few images to give you an idea of the damage…

”]Many households have been affected, but the major damage was to cars from the hefty sizes of the hailstones that fell. At my work, there wasn’t a single car in the open air carpark that wasn’t damaged. My beloved car, like my workmates’ cars,  has a zillion dents on the roof, side panels  and bonnet. The windscreen has two large cracks in them and I’m slowly working my way through insurance processes.

No use fixing the windscreen until an assessment and until I’m sure the car’s not going to be a write-off. Word is that the storm has caused more than $100 million in damages. You should have seen the car dealers at the Audi Dealership down the road where I work! Thank God, we are all safe.  Our neighbourhood escaped damage and we didn’t even have a power outage. That means I’m still stitching 😉

Pokua, I’m sorry to hear that your car was damaged, at least your house and neighbourhood were ok though. I too was lucky at home, no problems. At work my office is slightly raised up so we had no problems but all the others down the street were flooded. When I left work there was a river flowing down the street, so I had to drive out through that (one poor lady was stuck in the middle of the road in her car) and it was a 40klm drive all the way home because soo many streets were flooding up. What an experience hey! I am just happy that we didn’t get the hail stones in our area.
    Take care LISA V.
